| Our
Mission
To promote community health and increase drug prevention
awareness
in children
and their families through educational events that combine
performance art with a
drug-free
message.
Our
Goal
To
use the excitement of skateboarding to attract the attention
of children and their families and provide them with
educational materials and support to help reduce the
number of drug and alcohol related tragedies.
Who
we are
We are an organization of professional athletes, educators
and volunteers working toward a common goal. Founded
in October 2003 and based in Los Angeles, California
by professional skateboarder Richard Zuccarello, Skateboarders
Against Drugs is a 501©(3) nonprofit charitable
organization.
Who
we serve
Our program is designed for elementary school children
K-6 and at-risk youth.
What
we do
Establish drug prevention athletic programs at community
centers throughout Los Angeles and its surrounding cities.
Organize a series of drug awareness events held at elementary
schools across America.
Our goal
is to put on visually stimulating and highly informative
events that will inspire and motivate children to stay
in school, set goals, participate in extracurricular
activities and most importantly to empower them to stay
drug-free.
At each
event a team of professional athletes will dazzle the
audience with a stunning extreme performance. In addition
guest speakers educated in the field of drug prevention
will address the children by describing the hazards
of drug and alcohol addiction to discourage abuse before
it begins.
Finally
each child will receive an educational handboook, a
backpack, a t-shirt and school supplies all imprinted
with a drug-free message.
